It’s the time of year again when people are looking to improve their home’s appearance. Whether repairing winter’s damage or adding on another room, it is important to work with an experienced and trusted contractor. At Stateline Insurance, our top priority is keeping our policyholders protected. When working with a contractor, remember to always consider the following:
Is the contractor licensed by the Contractor’s Registration Board?
Visit the Contractors Registration and Licensing Board website to check whether the contractor has any violations and also to make certain their registration is current: www.crb.state.ri.us.
Request a certificate of insurance to prove that the contractor is insured in the event of an unexpected accident. The certificate should be sent to the homeowner by an insurance agent or company to ensure it is current and accurate.
As an independent agent, Stateline also represents multiple carriers that provide contractor’s insurance for local tradesmen. We work closely with contractors to find the company that best suits the needs of specific businesses. A significant part of our process includes verifying the insured’s status with the contractor’s board and discussing the need for certificates of insurance.
We encourage our clients, homeowners and contractors to call Stateline Insurance for more information at 401.438.8345.
